Aaron Hellem, PT

I am an Assistant Professor and Co-Chair of Admissions in the University of Minnesota’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy program, where I teach Anatomy, Clinical Biomechanics, and Therapeutic Interventions. I completed my DPT (’13) and orthopaedic residency (’14) at Mayo Clinic, my PhD in Shoulder Biomechanics at the University of Minnesota (’25), and I am dual board certified in orthopaedic (’15) and sports (’16) physical therapy.

My research and clinical practice interests include joint and tendon biomechanics, evidence-based practice, and data-informed clinical decision making. Outside of work, I enjoy seeing live music, cooking, strength training, reading and watching sci-fi and fantasy, and spending time with my family.
