My first exposure to health care was watching my mother operate a clinic for people experiencing homelessness. She ensured that I understood the importance of high-quality and accessible healthcare in communities where this is a challenge. This lesson followed me as an OB nurse in the hospital. I came to appreciate my role in a mostly healthy life transition. I learned how to recognize the underserved and underrepresented as well as ways to educate and coach patients in healthy transitions of life. I became a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner, and brought these lessons to my practice. These experiences have helped me guide patients through the lifespan in healthy transitions such as pregnancy and breastfeeding, puberty, sexual health, menopause, chronic disease management and end of life. My approach to family practice is to be your partner in these transitions, help you make decisions in health and sickness, and recognize and diagnose when things aren't quite right. I believe education is the key to shared decision making and it is my job to make sure you have all the information to make the best decisions for you. Together, we will consider your home, work, family and community as influencers of health. There may be unexpected barriers that arise in your health and illness. We will work together to do the best we can so you may feel the best you can.
