Daniel Peck, MD

Daniel Peck, MD is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He specializes in pediatric cardiac imaging, with expertise in transthoracic, transesophageal, and fetal echocardiography. His clinical work focuses on the diagnosis and management of congenital and acquired heart disease in children.

Dr. Peck received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed his pediatric residency at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He subsequently completed his pediatric cardiology fellowship at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, followed by advanced fellowship training in pediatric noninvasive cardiac imaging.

Dr. Peck's academic interests center on improving access to high-quality cardiac care through innovative ultrasound technologies, global health initiatives, quality improvement, and medical education. His research has explored the use of artificial intelligence to improve the acquisition and interpretation of cardiac ultrasound images, particularly in resource-limited settings. He has a specific interest in rheumatic heart disease screening and the potential for emerging technologies to expand access to cardiac diagnostics in underserved populations. He is also involved in telemedicine initiatives to support access to care in remote areas as well as international medical education initiatives that connect pediatric cardiologists and trainees across institutions and continents.

As a clinician, Dr. Peck is focused on providing optimal, patient centered care. This means meeting the family where they are at and working together as a team to ensure the best outcome for every child. The best medical care demands a team approach which incorporates the patient, family, physician and support staff, and Dr. Peck is proud to be part of the team at the University of Minnesota.

Outside of the hospital Dr. Peck enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the local golf courses, parks and new restaurants. And of course, supporting the local sports teams!
