Ruben Alexanian, MD

Dr. Ruben Alexanian is a board certified an interventional cardiologist and structural heart specialist that focuses on complex coronary interventions, transcatheter valvular heart replacement and repair, PFO/ASD and left atrial appendage closure. He is a graduate from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI where he obtained his undergraduate and medical degree. He continued his training with residency and fellowship both at the University of Wisconsin Hospital System in Madison, WI.  He pioneered a joint valve clinic program between the VA Hospital and University Hospital in Madison, WI to decrease disparities in access to contemporary therapies for veterans. Dr. Alexanian is a conscientious provider who focuses on a multidisciplinary care approach to provide patients with the best and most complete options for treating their structural heart and coronary disease.

Dr. Alexanian is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and an active member of the American Heart Association. He has many years of research experience and prioritizes participating in clinical trials to provide state of the art care to his patients. Dr. Alexanian enjoys traveling with his wife and two young children and working on home improvement projects.

Specialties and care locations: Dr. Alexanian sees patients at our Maplewood Heart Care Clinic locations and does procedures at St. John’s Hospital. He sees patients requiring percutaneous coronary interventions for coronary artery disease, patients with valvular/structural heart disease and patients with atrial fibrillation who are interested in coming off of their blood thinners.
